An innovating space since 1829.

  • How it started.

The Sekforde opened as a public house in 1829 and remained open without a break for 176 years until it temporarily closed for a much needed re-development and restoration project in 2015, re-opening just before Easter 2018.

  • Restoration.

The restoration captures all the charm of a late Georgian pub but also offers the very best in modern facilities, including a ground source heating and cooling system that uses only 15% of the energy needed of a conventional pub of our size. Using this system as a starting point we want to become the greenest pub in London and are constantly aiming to eliminate all plastics and food waste.

  • Award-winning design.

We received two awards from The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for restoration and sustainability. The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) awarded us with a commendation for renovation.
